Competition Format

Competition skills for each event are found at the bottom of this page.

Eligibility

·       Entries are welcome from all recreational divers and novice competitive divers aged 17 years and under.

·       This event will take the place of the former novice events that were held during DQ Qualifying events.

Skill Requirements:

·       All skills will follow the new Diving Australia levels system - and the new DQ competition format created from this.

·       Divers must have completed the skills of each of their level certificates within their respective clubs before competing it at the Community Cup for participation in Level 4-5, Level 6-7, and Level 8 competitions. For example, divers must complete and have their Level 4 and Level 5 certificates verified by their club coach before entering the Level 4-5 Community Cup event. Exceptions apply for Level 1-3 events (Learn to Dive Divers or those new to the sport), where all divers may showcase their skills, provided they have learned them.

Event Format

·       Each event will consist of 2 or 3 stations (as specified), with divers rotating through each station to complete assigned skills. One judge will assess divers at each station, with a total of 2 or 3 judges across the stations. The cumulative scores from all judges will be added for the final scores (this scoring format does not apply to Level 8).

·       Level 8 will follow a traditional competition format, where divers will perform in succession, with 3 judges scoring all dives.

Competition Stops

·       There will be 3-4 ‘stops’ during the summer series.

·       Please discuss with your coach with event you must enter into.

·       Ideally, all divers should participate in each event, starting at Level 1-3 before progressing to the next level at the following stop. However, at the coach’s discretion, a diver may begin at Level 4-5 or Level 6-7, providing they have learn the skills and can consistently perform them at a good level.

·       No diver may automatically enter the Level 8 event; they must have previously competed in at least Level 6-7 to be eligible.

·       Only one event may be contested at each stop of the series, with the exception of Levels 6-7 and 8, which may be held on the same day if the diver passes Level 6-7.

Team Structure and Points

·       Divers will be organised into multi-club teams to foster inter-club connections and friendships. Points will be awarded based on individual results, contributing to the overall team score.

·       The winning team will be awarded the Community Shield.

·       Additional points may be granted for contributions such as parent volunteer support, judging, and community service efforts.
