Diving Queensland's New Patron is Announced
Published Sat 02 May 2026
For the past two years the patron role has been vacant, after the resignation of our previous patron in 2024. After an extensive search by the management committee, we are pleased to share that we have identified an appropriate candidate to fill the role - Juliet Alabaster. Juliet was unanimously agreed upon to fulfill the role at our recent AGM.
Juliet brings 20+ years experience in roles that bridge industry, government and community. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer of City Parklands, Brisbane City Council’s subsidiary that manages operational services, events and marketing for South Bank Parklands, Roma Street Parkland and Victoria Park and a Director of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council. Prior to those roles, she spent 17 years with the Brisbane Economic Development Agency, across various positions including Business Development, General Manager Tourism, Major Events and Chief Operating Officer. Based on this experience, Juliet has an extensive network across government and private sector in Queensland, including many stakeholders that Diving Queensland is currently engaged with, or should be engaged with in the future. As Patron, Juliet’s support will provide valuable leadership and advocacy for our members and the broader diving community we serve. We believe Juliet’s professional standing, experience and commitment align strongly with the purpose and values of our Association. Including our ability to maximise both the opportunity and legacy for Diving in Queensland, associated with Brisbane hosting the 2032 Olympic Games. In parallel, Juliet is willing to provide mentorship to our CEO to help amplify our impact.
It is a pleasure to welcome Juliet as our Patron. Priorities for 2026 include expanding participation, strengthening partnerships, growing regional programs, and preparing for the opportunities leading into Brisbane 2032.
